So, this is one of the animation projects that I have been working on for a while, though this post is more so about animation workflow than the project itself. Now animation is something that I am still very new to, and I learned a lot from this project.

The reason why I am posting this W.I.P. here because I am not sure if I will be able to finish this project any time soon. My schedule is currently and will be packed with responsibilities for much of this year. So, I figured I would go ahead and share it for where it is and leave it at that for now.

So this idea was my first big animation project that I have ever taken on. It is 300 plus frames of hand drawn photoshop animation. The main goal for this was to see if I could animate like really I wanted to, and I learned a lot from doing this project.

I took a very different approach to this than industry standard, because my brain has to see things a certain way (it is kinda hard for me to explain it well, but I am really technical minded) or I will get stuck in my process. So, first for this animation I created a rough animated draft of the whole thing below:

This initially started out as a storyboard, but as I went along I felt that I needed to test to see if things would move like I pictured them, so I decided to just make a full animated rough of the whole thing. I completed this over a period of 3 weeks in 1-2 and a half hour intervals, 4- 5 days a week, between work and other responsibilities.

What I like about doing this is that it allows me to just focus on the animating without getting lost in the details. I can focus on the core of the project first. I also can establish what my final project will be like in this draft. So basically all I have left to do is to render it. That being said, it is possible to get a little bogged down by the rendering process with this method. I can definitely make tweaks to thisprocess but yeah. Just thought I’d share.

So the line art is still a bit rough here because I tried to complete it for a class project, and I don't have an steady hand. This is kind of where I am with it at the moment. Again, I don’t know if I will be able to finish this or if I will go back and try to fix some of the line art. I may either let it go as is or try to add the extra frames, color, and shading to let it be as is.

For the idea itself, I thought it would be cool to animate a Godzilla battle in the Pokemon anime animation style. There is story and lore to this animation too, I'm just not sure when I will get around to posting it. Godzilla here is a Pokemon with stats, typing and everything. I'm still not sure if I want him to be just a dragon type or a dragon/water type. I mean I like the duo typing for the fact that Gidorha and Biollante are super effective against him, but I’ll see.

But yeah that is really all I have to say. I figured I would just share this, because it might be helpful to anyone interested in animation. If anyone have any comments, questions or discussions you would like to have about this, feel free to do so.

Hey guys, I am sorry that I have been very inactive for the past year. I will pick up activity starting sometime next week. That being said, I have a few projects that have been in progress for a while. I might post some of my work in progress here, soon, but I will get back with you guys on that.

I also have some works that I have not posted yet that I will post too.

I have a verity of things to share from artworks from school, to old projects that I will either post as works in progress only, or get them to a finishing point (not a finalized point) and let them be done. I have got to clear out some of my inventory.
